Ottawa Senators coach Paul MacLean was pressed and pressed on the status of star centre Jason Spezza Wednesday morning.
He offered little more than the fact that Spezza is “still being evaluated” and that he won’t be playing against Montreal Wednesday.
Ottawa Senators defenceman Patrick Wiercioch laughed when asked if he put a bug in the ear of general manager Bryan Murray before the December, 2011 trade which brought centre Kyle Turris to the organization.
“Oh, yeah, I’ll take credit for that one,” Wiercioch said Tuesday, basking in the glow of a quick start to the NHL season for himself, Turris and the team. “You can let Bryan know.”
Childhood friends Kyle Turris and Patrick Wiercioch opted to leave British Columbia and call Ottawa home last summer, hoping their time working out together would translate into success with the Senators when the lockout ended.
