Born in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Mark Stone returns to the Ottawa Senators with hopes of staying with the NHL club longer than his last call-up where he played one game for the Sens, notching an assist on Jason Spezza’s game winning goal.
After leaving the Winnipeg Thrashers of the MMHL, Stone began his junior career with the Brandon Wheatkings in the 2008-09 season where he marked 39 points in 56 games. He was selected by the Senators 178th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and despite attending his first NHL training camp, he was returned to juniors, where he led the Wheatkings in scoring with 37 goals. Stone was subsequently named Wheatkings captain, competed for Team WHL against the Russian team in the under 20 squad of the Subway Super Series as well as being named recipient of the Brad Hornung Trophy for sportsmanship.
After an international career that saw him compete in the 2012 World Junior Championship, Stone made his regular season Ottawa Senators debut March 6, 2013.
