The 23 year old from New Westminster, B.C, first got his start in the NHL with the Phoenix Coyotes before a failed contract negotiation resulted in his being traded to the Ottawa Senators on December 17, 2011.

In 49 games with the Senators in the 2011-12 season, Turris registered 12 goals and 17 assists.

Scouting reports describe Turris as a player with excellent scoring instincts who is also a talented, effortless skater.

During the 2012-13 NHL lockout Turris signed with Oulun Kärpät  in the SM-liiga based in Oulu, Finland, and owned by Kärppä Säätiö.
