Making his first appearance in a Senators jersey since the 2007-08 season, Joe Corvo returns to Ottawa a seasoned player.

The veteran defenceman, originally drafted in the 4th round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, played 3 seasons for the Kings as well as played for the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins.

Corvo signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators, worth $900,000 on July 8, 2013. While viewed as being in the downswing of his playing career, Corvo admits being better equipped to handle the pressure of playing in a Canadian market than he was earlier in his career. He sees himself as a more mature player than the last time he played with the Senators, which was five years ago.

“As I’ve gotten older I think I have a better idea of different pieces of a puzzle on a team,” Corvo said. “I’m way more open minded as to where a coach feels I fit in on a team.”
