How can you be nice when Cooke used his skate like a knife blade?
This goes to show that nice players finish with terrible injuries.
Look at that GOON Cookie brains looking behind to see if he finished the job he was told to do.
Finish this great hockey players career!!!!
I figured it was only a matter of time before a goon would be told to stop this young player because he was too young & too small.
After the strike it`s not hockey anymore.
How can you be sure it was on purpose? Yeah, Cooke has a history of this kind of thing, but for the last season and some, he’s been trying to clean up. I know it was a horrible injury and Cooke should be hated (if he’s not already) for the hit, but only if it was deliberate. Was it? Maybe, maybe not. Don’t go assuming based on history. I don’t know either, but I’m not jumping to conclusions.
Steve you are stupid plain and simple there is no conspiracy to take out Erik Karlsson especially since he has never been a major force when playing the Penguins. The injury was a fluke accident that could have happened to anyone, thats hockey. Also to call Matt Cooke could not be farther from the truth anymore he his completely changed his game and has become a more well rounded hockey player who can get under the other teams skin
If you’re basing Cooke’s guilt on the fact he looked back…you’re ignoring Karlsson’s swearing and yelling in pain. I don’t know if anyone wouldn’t have ‘looked back’. He immediately moved to join the play after the hit, and only looked back when Karlsson yelled/swore.
He does have a history of agitation, headshots, and the like, but never has he been accused of intentionally ham-stringing anyone. His skate coming up seemed to have more to do with shifting to get more body contact, and the impact drove his skate down and in. It’s not impossible to fake that, but I can’t see any reason why Karlsson would have been considered enough of a threat to the Penguin’s to warrant an intentional injury of that severity. Did Karlsson concuss or knock someone out of the game earlier? Was he skating circles around Sidney? No, and no. Conspiracy and intent to injure just don’t make sense.
