    Perhaps a difeerent outcome????

You’ve got to be kidding me. Neil takes a light tapping from a stick, looks over at the ref, and then decides that he’s hurt and needs to flop on the ice.

I don’t like Ovie, but Neil needs to show more integrity than that.

Why is there very little mentioned about this on TSN or anywhere else. It was a blatant spear. That is 5 and a game. Not only did the refs screw up, but if this doesn’t go to Shannahan…

B.S C.Neil… you’re a troll. Learn a little integrity yourself, rather than being absolutely dishonest about the situation.

Look carefully at the video before judging Chris Neil. Ovechkin clearly speared him, Ref missed the call, not the first time Ovechkin has reflected his dirty side. I know Chris Neil, he’s not a faker – enough said.

Talk about being dishonest. Look at the video objectively. You cannot make the case that it was even intentional, much less “blatant.” If it were the other way around, we’d be saying that Neil did it by accident and, anyway, Ovie deserved it. Shanny will review it and do nil.

Now go ahead, call me a “troll” so you can feel better.

Dylan, try to be objective for just one moment. Do you have any idea how many spears and attempted spears happen on an average night in the NHL? Have you watched any Habs, Leafs, Blackhawks, Canucks, or Philly games? The stick-work is ridiculous.

I’m not saying that Neil didn’t take a stick to the gut, but the way that he flopped afterwards was embarrassing. Ovie plays hard, and if you watch the clip, he’s swinging his arms to gain his momentum. I do know that a player is to be in control of his stick at all times, Neil’s embellishment was a disgrace.

Unless there’s a camera angle which shows outright malicious intent without embellishment by Neil, no further discipline will occur. Retribution, perhaps, but discipline, no.

Looks pretty blatant to me. The intent was there by Ovechkin but was there a bit of embellishment? Hard to say when you get a stick in the stomach who it feels though.
Thought it should have been caught by the refs. Sherwood Park, AB

If he’s swinging his arms for momentum and speared Neil accidentally, wouldn’t Ovie look back and see what was getting in the way of his arm swings? I doubt you would accidentally step on something and continue walking as if you didn’t. There’s intent there, but also embellishment from Neil
