THE QUOTES

Zack Smith

–”It’s three in a row for us. That’s pretty big. It’s something we’ve only done once before this year. But it was a bit sloppy at times. It probably wasn’t a pretty game (to watch), but I think we deserved to win that and we got the two points.”

On his third period goal:

–”No, I didn’t touch it, I’m not sure why they changed it (the goal was originally credited to Marc Methot) and I’m sure they’ll change it back. I won’t argue it, but if they ask, I will them I didn’t touch it.”

On finding a way to win close games:

–“It’s a fine line and that’s why hockey is a funny game like that. Those games can go either way and we’ve played those games earlier this year and haven’t got those two points. But the bounces went our way tonight.”

Craig Anderson

–“The end results are starting to take care of themselves because we’re doing things the way we’re supposed to be doing them. We’re playing hard, we’re playing for each other.”

–”Confidence is a funny thing. It’s one of those things where you can’t really measure it, you can’t really see it, but it’s just the guy holding on to the puck for that extra second or not afraid to make a play through the middle. It’s just one of those things when you’re tense and fighting it a little bit, you’re not going to make the little plays to get it out of your zone or create a scoring chance for your team.”

–”I got a little bit of luck tonight. I think there were four, maybe five, tonight. There are nights where we don’t have luck and they end up putting it in our net or in off our stick. At the end of the day, it’s going to be 50/50 on luck, whether it’s for or against. Right now, we’re getting them in our favour. Earlier in the year, they weren’t in our favour. One or friends tonight.”

On Anthony Peluso hitting the crossbar:

–”I had to play the tip and if he tips that, he puts it right into me. But he made a good play of stopping it and pulling it around me. I think nine times out of 10, he’s going to score. I got lucky.”

Coach Paul MacLean

–”It was a competitive game, up and down the rink, as we expected it would be.”

–”I thought Mika’s line again gave us some offence and was the difference maker in the game. We found a way to win a game and that’s important. We have three wins in a row for the second time this year and it’s a great opportunity for us now to on the road to see if we can string some wins together.”

–”We also have to make sure we’re paying attention to the types of opportunities we’re giving up as well and not just be focussed on scoring goals.”

–”Obviously, tonight we didn’t do everything correct. You’re not going to do everything correct in a game. We still have to work on parts of our game.”
