Sympathy for the Ranger

Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson remains in contact with former Senators defenceman Wade Redden and feels for what he is going through after being placed on waivers by the New York Rangers on the weekend.

“It’s tough,” said Alfredsson. “It has been a tough few years for him in New York. Obviously, it didn’t work out for both sides the way they wanted. Hopefully, he can find somewhere to play where he can get the fun back in the game.”
At this point, the most likely destination appears to be Hartford of the American Hockey League, home of the Rangers’ top minor league affiliate.
If that’s the case, Redden will be paid handsomely just so the Rangers can get him off their NHL salary books. He would make more in each game than many players would make all season.
