Swede success for Senators in All-Star voting

Daniel Alfredsson says he would “cherish” the chance to play in January’s All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place. If he had his choice, he would vote in teammates Erik Karlsson, Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek, as well.

So far, the fans agree with the Senators captain.

After the first week of fan balloting, Karlsson, the Senators star Swedish defenceman, has the most votes (147,468). Alfredsson ranks second overall and first among forwards (131,774). Toronto sniper Phil Kessel ranks second among forwards (128,390), followed by Spezza (117,899) and Milan Michalek (108,247).

But look out, here comes Sidney Crosby. Crosby already ranks ninth among forwards (74,528).
