If you believe the speculation, the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks are all interested in Senators defenceman Chris Phillips. For now, though, Phillips insists there’s nothing new and he hasn’t waived his no-trade clause.
“I haven’t spoken to (Senators GM Bryan Murray) in a little bit for there have been some conversations (with his agent),” Phillips said after Monday’s practice.
“No decisions have been made on anything yet. It’s day-to-day. When there’s a breakthrough, I’m sure everyone will know, one way or another.”
Even Regin, who only a year ago would have seemed to be an untouchable, recognizes the potential that most players could be dealt away. “We all know. Nobody is safe with the year we’ve had. Even if (Murray) didn’t want to trade me, maybe somebody else could say they wanted me as part of a package. I’m not thinking about it at all, that’s not going to help me in games and I feel like we do have a good future here.”
