Though he’s only 28 and in the prime of his NHL career, Jason Spezza felt just a little old on Thursday when 18-year-old Oiler rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins said he grew up watching and admiring him.
Spezza was a bit taken aback.
“Well, I don’t feel old but it definitely puts you into perspective, that I’ve been around the league for a little longer,” he said.
“He’s an exciting player and a great player, and it’s a huge compliment coming from a guy like that.”
