So, where did Craig Anderson go in the third period?

Senators coach Paul MacLean insists it’s no big deal, but the club raised some eyebrows when goaltender Craig Anderson didn’t return to the bench following the second intermission.

Anderson, who stopped 15 of 17 shots while playing the first two periods of Thursday’s 3-2 exhibition loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, was originally scheduled to play only 40 minutes.

However, he didn’t return to the bench when Nathan Lawson took over to play the third period. Instead, Andrew Hammond, the back-up to the back-up, took his spot.

“He wasn’t going to play the third period, so we took him out and put Hammond there,” said MacLean. “(Hammond) couldn’t play unless the other guy (Lawson) got hurt.”

The first question mark for Friday is whether Anderson will practice.
