Sens swap defencemen: Brian Lee to Tampa for Matt Gilroy

The Ottawa Senators have traded 24-year-old defenceman Brian Lee, a former first-round draft pick, to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defenceman Matt Gilroy.

Gilroy, from North Bellmore, New York, is 27. He is a right-handed shot and is making $1 million this season. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

He has played 53 games with the Lightning this season, getting two goals and 15 assists.

Lee, picked ninth overall in the 2005 draft, played 35 games with the Senators this season. He had one goal and seven assists and was minus-2. He was making $925,000 this season, so the Senators picked up some salary to take on a rental player.
