Sens sign Claesson to three-year entry level contract
The Senators have signed 19 year old defenceman Fredrik Claesson to a three-year entry level contract.
Claesson, who was drafted by the Senators in the fifth round (126th overall) in the 2011 entry draft, scored one goal and six assists with Djurgardens of the Swedish Elite League last season.
Claesson also represented Sweden at the world junior tournament, winning gold along with fellow Senators prospect Mika Zibanejad, who also played for Djurgardens.
Senators assistant GM Tim Murray says Claesson has “made big strides” from a year ago, but he needs to improve his skating and mobility.
He’s expected to play with Binghamton next season.
