The Ottawa Senators have signed goalie Craig Anderson to a four-year, $12.75 million contract extension.

Anderson was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a mid-February trade for Brian Elliott.

He was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Anderson has stopped 333 of 355 shots (.938 save percentage) and posted a 6-4-0 record with a 2.11 goals-against average in 11 games with the Senators.

Anderson is NOT the answer! Taking another team’s backup and making him a starter hasn’t worked in the past, so why should it work this time?

Don’t get me wrong, Anderson has done well for the team so far, but I think they’re jumping the gun by signing a guy for that much money for that long who has only played a handful of games for the team.

Murray needs to suck it up and pay the money or make the trade for a good goalie. Don’t take other team’s cast-offs or injuried guys because you can get them cheap.

Maybe Anderson will prove me wrong…or maybe we’ll be right back next year at the same place we are this year, talking again about the Sens goaltending problems. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
