Senators set to test skills Wednesday

Who is the fastest skater? Who has the hardest shot? Who is the best stick handler? All of these questions, and more, will be answered today at the Ottawa Senators’ annual Sens Skills Competition.

The competition will see the Senators demonstrating their best shots, dangles and on-ice skills in many different categories, including best puck control, most accurate shooting, as well as an elimination shootout and a team relay event combining all of the above.

The event will be a showdown between Team Red, led by Chris Phillips, and Team Black, led by captain Daniel Alfredsson.

Last year, Phillips’ team beat Alfredsson’s by a score of 13-7. Today, the Senators captain will be searching for redemption.

The Senators will donate all of the net proceeds from the event on behalf of Metro, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League’s Player Association, to the Sens Foundation and the NHLPA’s Goals and Dreams Fund.

The event begins today at 1 p.m. at the Scotiabank Place.
