The Ottawa Senators have recalled defenceman Mark Borowiecki and forward Andre Petersson from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
The recall to the National Hockey League is the first of both players’ careers.
An Ottawa native, Borowiecki, 22, has scored three goals and 12 assists while adding 76 penalty minutes in 42 games for Binghamton during his first full professional season.
Following three years with Clarkson University of Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, Borowiecki joined Binghamton for nine regular season games last season.
He also played in 21 playoff games during Binghamton’s run to the 2011 Calder Cup championship.
Borowiecki, the first Ottawa native ever drafted by the Senators, was selected with Ottawa’s fifth-round pick (139th overall) in the 2008 draft
A native of Olofstrom, Sweden, Petersson, 21, is playing in his first season in the AHL and leads Binghamton in scoring with 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) in 30 games.
Petersson was Ottawa’s first fourth-round selection (109th overall) in the 2008 draft.
