Senators ready to sign UConn left winger

The Ottawa Senators are getting ready to add another late-blooming college player to their depth chart.
They’re apparently close to signing 21-year-old University of Connecticut left wing Cole Schneider.
The 6-2, 185-pound Schneider, a native of Williamsville, N.Y, had 23 goals and 22 assists this season to break UConn’s single-season scoring record.
He had 13 goals and 20 assists in 37 games last season.
Once signed, he would report to Binghamton and play the rest of the AHL schedule.
He would join the every-expanding rank of college free agents who have been signed by the Senators over the last few seasons, a group that includes Jesse Winchester, Bobby Butler, and Stephane Da Costa.
