Ottawa Senators (3-3-2) at Detroit Red Wings (6-3-1)

This should be a closer game than it appears to be, but I’m thinking Alfie’s teammates will be amped up to help him build the case that he made the right decision to move on to Detroit. This one is close to a coin flip for me, so the “go with the home team” rule applies.

It’s just as well the prediction streak is over at 17, the pressure was killing me. Now I can get back to guesses, coin tosses and picking the teams with the best logos.

Patrick Eaves is going to be very fired up to face his old team.

Alfie will probably be exhausted from the number of sitdown interviews leading up to this game. Unfortunately his teammates won’t be.

He has since backtracked, but you can’t get the genie back in the bottle. Alfie basically said he left because Detroit was better. Pro athletes are a proud bunch. I expect Ottawa’s best game of this young season.

Although Monday’s bag skate should have caught the attention of the team, I don’t like Ottawa’s chances to snap out of their funk against the top team in the Atlantic Division.

The mystique of the Red Wings is already a weapon, but a healthy and motivated Alfredsson is another, especially against an inconsistent Senators team who take a lot of penalties. Detroit’s power-play will win this game tonight.

The first meetup with an ex is never clean. Cool new haircut, cool new friends, cool new suburban home. The Sens might say it’s just another game and they’re over it, but in reality they’re going to spend the whole game watching Alfie out of the corner of their eye, longing for their lost love.
