Ottawa Senators (29-37-9) at Atlanta Thrashers (31-31-12)

My head says take the Senators, my gut says take the Thrashers. While Ottawa is hot right now, it tends to play up or down to its opponents. Add in the fact this is an afternoon game that’ll probably draw about 3,000 fans and I could see the team having a letdown.

My advice to you, James, as you aim for the title is to use my picks as a guide — and do the exact opposite. I’m so cold I’m the anti-Midas. Now go get ‘em! Today I’ll go with the red hot Sens, but in keeping with the buy high, sell low philosophy that has delivered me untold riches with my investments, this may well be the day the Sens look like an AHL team again.

This is a big game for everyone on this panel….except for me. Just like the Sens, I’ve been mathematically eliminated from winning this year. I’m just playing out the string here.

At least we’ll have the next four seasons to whine about how Craig Anderson played Ottawa out of a top three draft selection.

Ok, after picking the Snes to lose to all these top teams, AND THEY KEEP WINNING (Charlie Sheen voice), I am going to go with them against the Thrashers. They had darn well better not lose this one with prediction panel victory within my grasp!

Ugh…I’ve predicted two straight Senators losses, and they’ve surprised me with wins both times. But that’s not why I’m predicting a Sens win tonight: That’s more because the Thrashers are falling fast, and the Senators are a different team these days.

Another coin toss, but I’m going to ride with the hot hand of Anderson in this one. He’s given the Senators more confidence than anyone could have predicted. Pretty good trade there Bryan. Even better signing.
