Pittsburgh Penguins (40-22-8) at Ottawa Senators (25-35-9)

Senators 2, Penguins 3
Even without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins remain one of the better teams in the East. Plus, we all know how much Alex Kovalev likes to stick it to his former teams.
Record: 41-28

Sens have been winning a few, losing a few, but for some reason lately I’ve been zigging when they zag. Will try to get the rhythm back here by picking the visitors, even if they are sans Sid.
Record: 39-30

The first game home after a long road trip is usually a trap game. But unfortunately for the Sens, most games at Scotiabank Place have been a trap this season.

I wish this game was a little easier to predict than what tonight’s crowd response to Alexei Kovalev’s return will be. Coming off of a performance that was reminiscent of the goaltending that Senators fans have grown accustomed to over the past few seasons, it will be interesting to see if Craig Anderson has a bounce back game.

Tough one to call, this time. Although I won’t be surprised if the Sens pull this one off, I think I’m going to go with the old ” team just back from road trip has flat game” theory. And no, I couldn’t care less that it’s Floatalev’s first game back. Was he ever really here?

The Penguins were my pick to win the Cup at the start of the year but that’s looking like a long shot now. I’ll still take them against Ottawa tonight. Should be a good one.
Record: 41-26

4-2 Penguins.
Had a good laugh when I heard “The Euge”‘s statement, as usual so full of contradictions.
First, he calls for permanent bans for players hitting others in the head. Does he want Chris Neil banned for levelling Victor Hedman or Tim Connolly in the day? Oh…probably not because it’s his player.
Speaking of which, Melnyk also said no penalty if a player can brace for the hit, but Spezza saw Letang and could have absorbed the hit better, yet Melnyk wants Letang gone?
Which is it boss, ban all players or just ban players that target our Senators?
