Boston Bruins (31-19-7) at Ottawa Senators (18-30-9)

It’s a tall task to knock off the Northeast Division leaders, especially for a team that just lost two straight to the New York Islanders. Plus the Senators, who have struggled to score this season, will have to deal with the air-tight defensive game of one Chris Kelly.

Yes the Bruins play the night before. Yes, their recent performances have been erratic. But please note that the game that ended my nice winning streak was the night I predicted a Senators win over the Isles. If only I’d known it would go to a shootout. Done deal.

With news that Chris Kelly is having work visa issues and will make his debut against the Senators, I’ll pick the more talented Bruins team that should be inspired to win one for their newest teammate.

I have little doubt that the Bruins will take this game. The only question is, will Kelly get the hat trick!!!??? The Sens are simply outmatched here, as they are in most games. From now on, it’s all about watching the young guys and enjoying seeing them develop.

The return of Chris Kelly! That didn’t take long. You’ve got to think it’ll be a distracting game for… well… just about everyone on the Sens and Kelly, but the Bruins are fighting right now. They can’t afford mistakes, and Thomas hasn’t made many this season.

Guys like Bobby Butler and Erik Condra are bringing some much needed enthusiasm to the Senators, but they’ll be in tough against a Bruins team that is trying to gear up for a Cup run. Nowadays the Senators can only hope not to be embarrassed in games.
