The Ottawa Senators try to get things turned around against the New York Islanders. Which team will come out on top? Our prediction panel weighs in.

Ottawa Senators (27-20-6) at New York Islanders (20-22-7)

James Gordon, SenatorsExtra.com editor/Citizen hockey writer

Senators 5, Islanders 1
The Senators finally hit a wall going into the all-star break — now it’s time to bust through it. A visit from the 25th-ranked Isles should be enough to get them back in the win column.
Record: 30-23
Exact scored predicted: 1

Wayne Scanlan, Citizen columnist

Senators 4, Islanders 2
A “must win” vs. the Islanders? How could this happen? Time to turn this ship around.
Record: 32-21
Exact scores predicted: 2

Ian Mendes, Sportnet.ca Senators reporter and blogger

Senators 4, Islanders 2
A crucial 24 hours for the Sens kicks off with a date with the Islanders. Ottawa should have beaten the Bruins on Tuesday. A similar effort on Friday against New York should result in two points.
Record: 31-22
Exact scores predicted: 2

Graeme Nichols, writer/editor, The Sixth Sens blog and podcast, defending prediction panel champion

Senators 3, Islanders 2
Despite having one of the highest-producing lines in the NHL with Parenteau/Tavares/Moulson, the Isles as a team have had some difficulty filling the net. Since Ottawa has a deeper collection of forwards, it’s an advantage that I think they will take advantage of.
Record: 33-20
Exact scores predicted: 2

Steve Lloyd, host, Healthy Scratches on Team 1200

Senators 5, Islanders 1
Having enjoyed some real practice time for the first time in a month, the Sens should be focused and ready bounce back and end their current four-game slide.
Record: 31-22
Exact scores predicted: 1

Peter Raaymakers, writer/editor, Silver Seven Sens blog

Senators 6, Islanders 1
If the Senators don’t end their losing streak against the Islanders, it could last a good long while. Ottawa’s scorers will likely be trying to make a statement in this one.
Record: 33-20
Exact scores predicted: 3

Russell, host, SensUnderground podcast

No pick submitted.
Record: 35-18
Exact scores predicted: 2

Jeremy Milks, writer/editor, Black Aces blog

Senators 4, Islanders 1
I wouldn’t want to be the Islanders coming into Kanata for tonight’s tilt. The Sens haven’t been this grumpy in a while and they’re looking to make someone pay. They can’t beat the refs but they’ll likely beat the Isles.
Record: 30-22

Wow… a sweep for the Sens… seems like these picks have a decidedly ‘homer’ slant to them. Not that I want to see the Sens lose, but I hope the players aren’t taking the Isles as lightly as the panel. Tavares & the Isles are hot right now.

    Ottawa: We know hockey.

Love that almost everyone had the Isles losing by multiple goals. Meanwhile Ottawa barely scratched together 20 shots on goal.

Bwaaahahaha. We didnt even need the first line, our 3rd line and 5th dman did just fine. Perhaps you guys up in Canada should watch more than just the Sens. You know, educate yourselves about the league? The Isles have been playing really well for a few weeks and even most of the losses are hard fought close games. Wake up and do your jobs.

I don’t meant to be an Islanders troll here, but I want to say something:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You guys got this one really wrong. Good game, though.
