Ottawa Senators (1-1-2) at Anaheim Ducks (3-1-0)

A valiant comeback against the Kings and a close score against the Sharks are helping to mask a pretty poor start to the season. Given the possession numbers the Senators have been putting up, it might be time to put the best available players in the lineup and consider the training camp messages sent. I’m guessing things get a little worse before they get better.

It’s throwback night in Anaheim, so I expect Terry Yake to net the winner for the Mighty Ducks. Also expecting a strong outing from Guy Hebert after he looked a little shaky in his last start against Hartford.

I’m not really enjoying watching a Sens team whose undisciplined play contributes to their league worst average of 39.8 shots against per game. Their penchant for taking penalties has hurt them in their other Californian games, but hopefully they get the message for this one. At the very least, I’m looking forward to one team ditching their ugly modern looking jerseys and embracing their past.

Just a hunch here. The Sens hung in there with arguably the best team in the league last night (thanks in large part to Lehner), and they’ve proven to be a resilient bunch. Last season the Sens had one of the better records in the league in the second half of back to backs.

Revenge of the Silfver Surfer, I guess? I’m basically expecting this road trip to continue getting worse until Ottawa can get home and re-group.

The Ducks haven’t played since Thursday when they ran over the Rangers 6-0 and should be well-rested. That makes it tough for Bobby Ryan’s homecoming, but I’m sure Silfverberg is just fine with the schedule.

It’s retro night in Anaheim as the Ducks will be once again be Mighty for the evening. I’ve looked up and down the lineup, and it appears the Ducks will be without Goldberg, although they seem to have dressed a second-rate knockoff named “Silfverberg.” Ottawa will be jacked up from the beating they took from the Sharks last night and will take this one easily.
