Ottawa Senators (1-0-2) at San Jose Sharks (4-0-0)

The San Jose Sharks are gonna rock out with their … *looks over at boss, who is shaking head ‘no’ with stern look on his face* … very talented lineup of hockey players.

San Jose is going to lose one of these nights and the Sens are rested and waiting for them, but it’s hard to go against the league’s hottest team.

The lazy people on this panel will make a Hertl or Thornton joke. But I’ll go for the shock value by picking Ottawa to win.

Since Spezza’s status is still questionable, I’ll pick a Sharks team that has essentially outshot their opponents at a 2:1 ratio through four games.

You have to respect how the Sens came back to get a point in LA, but man do the Sharks ever look good. I can’t see any weaknesses in their game right now.

The San Jose Sharks have a perfect record and I don’t like Ottawa’s chances of spoiling that — regardless of Jason Spezza’s presence.

This road trip is turning into a bit of a meat-grinder for Ottawa. The Sharks are just way too good right now to pick against, even if they might be due for a letdown. Twenty-one goals in four games is a pretty convincing stat right now.

San Jose is Ottawa’s stiffest competition yet. The Senators will look to torpedo the Sharks’ offence, which has been absolutely cocked and locked to start the year. Members of the Sharks have hosed their opponents for 21 goals, while their opponents, gripping their sticks too tightly, have been shafted with only five. As Peter wrote on Friday, Paul MacLean will have a stroke if Ottawa’s PK unit doesn’t improve, not to mention their flaccid PP. And who knows if Jason Spezza’s groin will hold up. The Sharks should have this one well in hand.
