Montreal Canadiens (13-16-7) at Ottawa Senators (17-14-5)

Well, I’ve blown about six picks in a row here, so you can look at this in one of two ways: 1) I’m going to be wrong again or 2) I’m way overdue. The Canadiens are a mess and the Senators are healthy and happy. They should be able to keep rolling here.

I like the Sens at home here against the struggling Habs, although Montreal is due to win one for its beleaguered coach.

There’s only one team on the ice that knows how it feels to play a home game with a massive jumbotron. New scoreboard and 12,000 Habs fans? Advantage Montreal.

Former captain Randy Cunneyworth could use the win, unfortunately for him, Ottawa will christen their new scoreboard with a win.

The Habs have to win one of these days, but let’s go with Ottawa at least one more time. Nothing seems to be going right in Montreal, and the break won’t likely have helped the situation.

How can you not pick Ottawa to win this one? And maybe we can convince Cunneyworth to miss the bus back to MTL and keep him here where he’ll be appreciated.

Ah, yes, the new ‘Jumbotron’. Our streets are crumbling, but we have $5 Million for a new scoreboard. Talk about misplaced priorities.

Hey T.S.W,did the owner ask the city for money to pay for it?No,he did not.Did the team get tax payer money to help fund the scoreboard?Again,no.The money came from sponsors(panasonic, bell)and Melnyk himself,so get off it.

The government pays for roads, not Eugene Melnyk. If you have a problem with potholes, call them.

my reply to starwolf is simple. Vancouver 2010 Olympics. 5 million on a new screen is pennies and well worth it.

Were people staying away because of the old scoreboard? No. Again, waste of money. As for Eugene Melnick not paying for roads, irrelevant. the point is, the money IS out there, regardless of whether in private or public hands and it is being used on bread and circuses rather than decaying essentials. The Roman motif for the team is very appropriate, more’s the pity.
