Everyone made a big deal about the fact Sunday’s date was 10/10/10. If the Ottawa Senators play the way they did against Toronto and Buffalo over the weekend, they might see 10 pucks hit the back of their net when the face the Caps. While I don’t think it’ll be that bad, the Senators are like many folks with bad, destructive habits. They have to hit rock bottom before the recovery. Rock bottom is tonight. Caps take it 8-3, Sens bounce back at home later this week.

Have to go with Washington the way the Senators are playing, while recognizing they will wake up one of these days!!!

The Sens – like most teams – have had difficulty winning at the Verizon Center over the past three years. But more troubling than that has been Ottawa’s lack of urgency in the first two games of this season. Washington looked downright scary in dismantling the Devils on Saturday night.

Who would have thought that goaltending would be the ONLY thing that we can’t whine about two games in? Starting the season 0-2 against your two main rivals, and in such spectacularly bad fashion, leads me to wonder how they could possibly be so completely unprepared and unorganized. They are not this bad but either the coaches or the players (players, by the way) have to take responsibility for not being ready to start the season. They have way too much work to do to knock off the Caps on Monday.

Tonight, the Senators hit a snag when the they come up against some elite scorers. Ottawa’s defence just doesn’t have the pieces to stop Alex Ovechkin, Nick Backstrom, Alex Semin, and Mike Green. Games against teams like Washington and Pittsburgh are going to be the ones where we really notice the loss of Anton Volchenkov, and we’ll see that in tonight’s game.

Halloween comes early for the Senators. Has a team ever been so unprepared to face the Ovechkin-led Capitals? The Sens front office should have kept the option of actually pulling a game from television, rather than subject fans to the sort of R-rated carnage we are about to witness. Trick or treat.

really weird stuff is going on right now this season. Big teams are losing to small teams. Sens to leafs, pens to habs, caps to thrashers. I understand why everyone seems to think that the sens are going to get beaten up by the caps tonight. This is based on our performance, or lack thereof so far. In another light however, I have seen the sens lose 5 in a row & then win 11 games straight. I think we lost to the leafs & sabres, because we underestimated them, therefore not respecting them. That is probably what happened to the caps against the thrashers.I think that there is a distinct possibility that the caps may underestimate us tonight, or we may just pull ourselves together & play like the team that we are.I’m not into predictions on scores, but i think the sens will want to redeem themselves from the leaf embarrassment. What better way than to come home with a win over the caps.
