Tampa Bay Lightning (11-12-2) at Ottawa Senators (12-11-3)

James Gordon, SenatorsExtra.com editor/Citizen hockey writer

Senators 4, Lightning 3
This one feels like another coin flip, as both of these teams should wind up just off the playoff bubble. Since the Senators are at home, however, I’ll give them the edge here.

Senators 3, Lightning 1
I don’t have much faith in a Lightning team that has won 4 of 14 on the road this year. Could be a player revolt against the 1-3-1. Last season, Guy Boucher had all the answers. These days, it’s mostly questions around this group.

Record: 18-8
Exact scores predicted: 1

The Sens have shown a consistent ability to beat those teams below them in the standings so far this season.
Record: 15-11
Exact scores predicted: 1

Senators 2, Lightning 3
In a not so classic match up of the expansion cousins, I’m just crossing my fingers that we don’t have to witness an extensive amount of the game with Tampa playing a passive 1-3-1.
Record: 19-7
Exact scores predicted: 1

After 9 of 10 of the road, The Sens came through better than anyone would have guessed. This is a trap game though. Just one day off before playing their first game back home.
Record: 14-12
Exact scores predicted: 0

Peter Raaymakers, writer/editor, Silver Seven Sens blog

Senators 3, Lightning 5
I don’t think Milan Michalek can be the team’s offensive leader game in and game out. Jason Spezza needs to get some consistency in his game (although he’s not in an easy position with the linemates he’s got).
Record: 19-7
Exact scores predicted: 1

Russell, host, SensUnderground podcast

Senators 3, Lightning 1
I’m kind of afraid of the “first game back after long road trip” theory with this game, but Tampa does suck quite a bit so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to the home town boys in this one.
Record: 21-5
Exact scores predicted: 1

Steve Yzerman must be wondering how it all went downhill so fast after a honeymoon year in Tampa. The Sens are punching above their weight playing for a coach they love while the Bolts are floundering with a boring style that clearly embarrassed the players after the now infamous “trap game” against the Flyers. Ottawa should have the edge in this one.
Record: 15-11
Exact scores predicted: 0
