Carolina Hurricanes (14-6-4) Ottawa Senators (10-10-2)

The Senators got a wake up call last game, finding out firsthand what a top team can accomplish when its opponent isn’t ready to play. Fortunately for them, the Carolina Hurricanes aren’t in the same country, let alone area code, as the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ottawa should pick up two points at home here.

Who needs the Grey Cup when the Canes are in town? But they’re going down. No?

Craig Anderson was pulled for the third time this season on Friday in Pittsburgh. After the first two times, he bounced back and looked solid in winning the next game. I think he and the Sens bounce back with a better effort on Sunday.

Whenever an Ottawa goaltender has been yanked from a start this season, the Senators have always won their next game. That streaks continues against a hapless Hurricanes squad that relies too heavily upon an underachieving Eric Staal.

Despite getting pumped in Pittsburgh, the Sens have shown they can compete with a lot teams this season.  The Canes are certainly one of them. Bounce back game for Ottawa.

No idea why. I just feel like the Senators will break out a bit here. A bounce-back game for Anderson, and, assuming he draws in, maybe David Rundblad’s first NHL goal.

Gone seem the days when the Sens played down to the skill level of basement teams. Ground n’ pound those Canes.

You get the sense Ottawa is just a loss away from falling into another extended funk so this will be a bigger game than it seems, especially with another three on the road looming. Ottawa has to get their second line with Alfie going or struggling clubs like the Hurricanes will give them problems.
