Dallas Stars (10-8-1) at Ottawa Senators (10-10-1)

The Ottawa Senators surprised more than a few people by knocking off the Los Angeles Kings Monday night after returning from a trying road trip. I felt before that game that the turnaround would come against the Stars, so I’m not changing my pick now. They’ll need some more good goaltending and a few lucky bounces, but I think the Senators will manage to win back-to-back contests.
Record: 11-10

The unpredictable Sens continue their topsy-turvy roll through the schedule. Will they beat Dallas? Beats me. I’ll try them here, but just flip a coin.
Record: 13-8

Thankfully, this game is on the other network. The Dallas Stars just recalled Severin Blindenbacher. I would have Blinden-butchered that name all night long on Sportsnet.

This game is a bit of a toss-up for me. Even though Ottawa got two points against LA, they were outplayed for most of the game and were the benefactors of some breaks.
Record: 14-7
Exact scores predicted: 3

Okay, they needed two disallowed goals to beat L.A. So what? Colin Campbell would just deny it ever happened so I will too. Bring on Dallas!

With the losing streak having come to an end against the L.A. Kings, the Senators will now — obviously — begin an extended winning streak. That’s just the way this team seems to like to do things. They also like playing at home much more than on the road, although that hasn’t been significant this season. It was huge last year.
Record: 13-8

Dallas is a bit of a hard team to wrap your head around. They can look dangerous when Brad Richards is rolling or just plain terrible when their goaltending falls apart, a Western Conference version of the Senators. This one is a coin toss so I’ll take the Senators at home, where they’ll need to get these two points before walking into an afternoon ambush in Pittsburgh on Friday.
Record: 13-8
Exact scores predicted: 2
