The Senators won their celebrity feud this week. As for a game against the Bruins …

One-goal games are the norm between these two.

Ian Mendes (@ian_mendes), TSN 1200 The Drive host

Senators 4, Bruins 3
The Sens proved they could hang with the Bruins last season and a visit from the defending Eastern Conference champs could be exactly what the Sens need to jump start them.

Despite losing 13 of their past 15 matchups versus the Bruins, I’ll pick a rested Senators team that didn’t play the night before — unlike Boston who won 3-2 in OT versus Columbus.

The Sens rebound from their poor performance against the Flyers, benefitting from two full practice days.

This is a tough one to predict, but the Bruins are a better team right now. Until the Senators are able to show they’re back in form, it’s going to be hard to justify predicting an Ottawa win. Well, except for Mendes, who just goes against the grain for fun. (He picked the Sens to win this one, didn’t he… ?)

It’s been over four years since Ottawa won on home ice against Boston. Four years. Christoph Schubert scored one of Ottawa’s goals and no one had even heard of Justin Bieber yet. Those were the salad days.

When the legendary wordsmith Keshia Chanté said, “Back-back-back up, reverse-reverse / Cause I — I liked you the way you were (oh yeah)” she was mostly likely opining her desire for Ottawa Senators backup goalie Robin Lehner to get the start against Boston.
After the team’s performance against Philly on Tuesday, I can’t help but think of the lyrics of Chanté’s “Test Drive,” as I always do, “Soon as I started the engine / It was a lemon / Won’t make this mistake again / Red lights start blinking / It got me thinking / What kinda mess am I in?”
