Ottawa Senators (9-7-1) at Philadelphia Flyers (11-4-2)

The Senators can move into fourth place in the Eastern Conference if they knock off the Philadelphia Flyers tonight — the exact position a certain prediction panelist picked them to finish at the end of the season. Blatant bragging on my part? Yes, but as my record shows, I need to take what I can get at this point. Fortunately for the Ottawa, I’m picking the Flyers to win tonight. If ever there was a guarantee of two points for the Mighty Sens, this is it.
Record: 8-9

The better they play, the tougher the call when Sens face top competition. After Ottawa’s impressive win in Boston, I’ll try the Flyers here in a close one.

Over the past six months, the Flyers have proven they are probably the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. But after going into Boston and turning the tables on Tim Thomas, I expect the Sens to skate away from the Wells Fargo Center (or whatever it’s called this week) with two points.

With an 8-1-1 record in their past ten games and a blue line that features Chris Pronger, I’m intrigued to see how the Regin-Spezza-Kovalev line matches up against Philly. I’ll pick the Flyers because of the tough matchup and the simple fact that Ottawa’s first line has been the only line that has consistently contributed of late.

Okay, so much for money in the bank. That was a truly impressive win over Thomas and the Bruins. I was really not sure they Sens for for real but I think I’m pretty convinced now. Enough so that I will take them over the Flyers. By the way, Elliot is our #1 starter now, in case it wasn’t already incredibly obvious. See you in January, Pascal.

The challenging road trip continues in Philadelphia, and even with the great play they’ve been putting forward, they’re not likely going to be able to run the table. The Flyers are tearing it up, and have outscored their opponents 13-3 in the last two games. It’ll be a good game, but I think Philly will take the two points when the buzzer sounds.

It’s tough to pick against the Flyers at home but the Senators have found a nice rhythm and always seem to get up for games against the orange and black. This should be a scrappy affair, as most games are in Philly. Heck, there are always at least a couple of fights even when Disney On Ice has the building booked.

“How does a woman sit with a man who wears a baseball cap in a restaurant? ”
Indeed Allen. I was at So Good on Somerset fêting a friend last night when someone sat through their whole mean with a baseball cap on…cringe-inducing to say the least.
As for this, 5-2 Flyers…and no, the Senators aren’t “for real” until the Conference Finals or cup finals are reached.
this early into the season, nobody is for real, or guaranteed of anything.nobody expected the sens to beat the bruins because of the loss to the nucks. It was an unwise decision on Clouston’s behalf by putting Leclaire in against such a good team his 1st game back. he was the sacrificial lamb for sure.i believe that the way Elliott has been playing of late, we might have won against Vancouver. The team has a lot of confidence in Elliott, but little to none in Leclaire.they could not open up & know that if they coughed up the puck, leclaire would be more than likely to stop it. When you have to worry about your goalie’s inabilities, that is when you really start to screw up.We have beaten the flyers in the past, & we can do it again. Now that Gonchar, Kovalev, Spezza, & Karlsson have come alive, + the fact that we actually have a full roster, i believe that we can beat the flyers. it will be a close game, but i think that the 2 points will be ours.
Woot called it!
That and $1 will get me a copy of the paper!
Well, off by one goal…guess I need to keep my day job.
