Atlanta Thrashers (6-5-3) at Ottawa Senators (7-6-1)

James Gordon, SenatorsExtra.com editor/Citizen hockey writer

Senators 4, Thrashers 3
It’s hard to pick against the Senators right now. This season seems to be shaping up a lot like the last one — feast or famine — and right now this team is chowing down on everything in its path. A bad bounce here or there could turn everything around, but until that happens, I’m going to have to go with the capital crew.
Record: 6-8

Wayne Scanlan, Citizen columnist
Senators 4, Thrashers 2
The Thrashers have improved and the possibility exists for a post-Hab letdown, but I like Ottawa to keep rolling.
Record: 10-4
Exact scores predicted: 1

Ian Mendes, Sportnet.ca Senators reporter and blogger

Senators 3, Thrashers 2
The Thrashers have played well against Ottawa over the last couple of seasons and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they skated away with a win on Tuesday. But the Sens appear to have hit a hot streak and it’s hard to pick against them right now.
Record: 8-6
Exact scores predicted: 1

Graeme Nichols, writer/editor, The Sixth Sens blog and podcast

Senators 4, Thrashers 3
Coming off a 5-4 OT loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday, I’m hoping there’s a bit on an emotional letdown by the Thrashers. That or Ottawa avoids the penalty box and an Atlanta power play unit that’s operating at a 25 per cent success clip.
Record: 10-4
Exact scores predicted: 3

Russell, host, SensUnderground podcast

Senators 4, Thrashers 1
The only concern I have about this game is the Sens’ tendency to play down to their competition, especially after their best win of the season. Of course, it wasn’t that long ago that Atlanta wasn’t below them. Anyways, I’ll go with the Sens and cringe every time I see them take a shift off, something they did not do Saturday against the Habs.
Record: 9-5
Exact scores predicted: 1

Peter Raaymakers, writer/editor, Silver Seven Sens blog

Senators 5, Thrashers 2
After tonight, the Senators face off against the Canucks, Bruins, and Flyers in quick succession. They’ll have to make sure they get two points against the Thrashers locked up before heading into much more dangerous territory against much stronger competition, and I think Cory Clouston should be able to get them in shape for it. Four in a row!
Record: 9-5

Jeremy Milks, writer/editor, Black Aces blog

Senators 4, Thrashers 3
The Thrashers are better on the road this season than at home, but Ottawa has too much going for them right now. Do you get the feeling this Senators team is going to be as streaky as last year’s edition? I do, so might as well roll with them while they’re hot.
Record: 9-4
Exact scores predicted: 2

It’s probably silly of me to predict such a high score with Jacques Martin coaching Montreal but I’m feeling lucky. The Sens should be angry after getting blanked the last time out and will be looking to exact some revenge.

@James Gordon, you predicted a score of 4-3 Atl but said you were going with Ottawa to win… Typo?

    Senators 5 Atlanta 3

I think this is going to be a fast paced game at both ends of the rink. Atlanta might currently be the 6th most potent offense in the league but their also tied for dead last in goals against per game at 3.5. It should be a wild west affair. If Ottawa’s shooters can make good on the quality chances their sure to get the team should be able to book a win.
