Winnipeg Jets (4-5-1) at Ottawa Senators (6-3-2)

Senators 3, Jets 2
The Senators have been pretty good about beating the teams they should during the Paul MacLean era, so I expect them to be ready to face the Jets. Facing Ondrej Pavelec is a nice treat for any struggling offence as well.

Ben Bishop’s time to shine? Who knows, MacLean was rather circumspect on Friday. I have a hunch there is internal debate on this. MacLean wants to get Bishop some game action, others in the organization want Anderson to help to put points in the bank for a rainy day down the road.

I only have a few rules in life that I follow: Don’t put ketchup on eggs. Never give yourself a haircut. And don’t take the Sens to win an afternoon home game on Hockey Night in Canada.

Would love to make this pick contingent upon which Sens goaltender gets the nod in nets but I don’t have the luxury of knowing who MacLean is going to roll with. Anderson didn’t practice yesterday, so I’m assuming he was resting to get the call against the Jets.

Things usually have a way of evening out. The Sens deserved about seven goals vs. Carolina and ended up with two. They get the other five this afternoon against a Winnipeg team that has some nice pieces, but has been disjointed as a group.

Not sure why … no good reason, really, aside from the fact that the Sens should beat the Jets with little difficulty.
Record: 7-4
Exact scores predicted: 1

I just can’t go with the Jets on the road. They stole one in here last season, so it is possible, but generally they’re hobbled outside of beautiful Manitoba.
Record: 7-4
