Toronto Maple Leafs (7-2-1) at Ottawa Senators (6-5-0)

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Regardless, I’m going to go ahead and pick THIS as the game the Senators hit a wall. They can’t keep falling behind and picking up late wins…can they?

This losing (mine) has to end. But will the Sens’ winning end any time soon? I will try them to handle Toronto.

For the second straight game, the Sens are playing an Original Six team with a brash American coach. And for the second straight game, I’ll pick against Ottawa for no reason.

Ottawa’s had some success playing against opponents that played the night before in the first game of a back-to-back. Now the shoe’s on the other foot.

Every time the Sens play the Leafs this season they will have played the day before. This time the Leafs are in the same boat, and actually play the night before, as opposed to Ottawa’s matinee in Manhattan. Advantage: Sens.

I don’t think any Sens fan worth his heritage “O” sweater could predict anything other than a Sens win here, so that’s what I’m going with. Is Toronto a team on fire with a couple of regular Sens killers in their lineup (Grabovski and Kessel, that is)? Of course. But Ottawa’s rolling, too, and with some timely saves from Craig Anderson (and assuming Stéphane Da Costa keeps his head up), the Sens are a solid bet.

You know my policy: Last place before ever, EVER picking the Laffs over Ottawa. Its time to set these pretenders straight.

You always think Ottawa should be pumped up to play the Leafs but these games are disappointing lately for some reason. Somebody needs to do something stupid to get this rivalry going again, like Tucker attacking the Ottawa bench. Maybe Konopka can shake things up (if he’s playing).
