San Jose Sharks (9-1-1) at Ottawa Senators (4-4-2)

Senators 3, Sharks 4
The first jersey I owned with a name stitched (ironed actually … by a store) on the back was a San Jose Sharks Arturs Irbe number. #JamesFacts

Sens should be better than they were Friday.

I assume that everyone on this panel is picking the Sharks. And lately, the “lone wolf” philosophy has been working well. So my gut tells me the Sharks will win — but my instincts are telling me to go with the opposite of what I’m really thinking.

The Sens are going to make like Ian Ziering’s character from Sharknado in this one; especially if the Sharks choose to rest Antti Niemi – who has played every minute of every game this season.

Steve Lloyd (@TSNSteveLloyd), host, In the Box on TSN 1200

Senators 4, Sharks 2
The word of the night Friday against the Ducks was giveaway. The Sens’ effort level was there, but the game was literally given away. They should be focused to face the Sharks. San Jose is so good Ottawa’s best might not be good enough, but I’ll take them anyway.

I don’t have any rationale here. But Erik Karlsson will probably have a good game.

Looks like Ottawa is at least playing well every second game, which means they should bounce back tonight. The back-to-back didn’t hurt the Ducks on Friday… what’s that saying about water off a duck’s back? (boo)… but it will sandbag the Sharks after playing in Montreal Saturday. This theory has to work at least once this season.

Due to a stretch of bad predictions, I’m deferring to my friend Phil who has never gotten anything wrong in his life. Phil says, ”I don’t think we can expect a season’s turn around in one night. Ottawa has made some positive steps since their last meeting, but the Sharks are too hot and the Senators are still looking disorganized. Taking into account the Sharks’ decision to dress Alex Stalock in net, I’m thinking a 3-2 win in OT for San Jose.” There you have it folks! Prognosticator Phil says it’s doom and gloom for the Senators. Unless Steve Lloyd picked Ottawa, in which case you can ignore Phil.
