Buffalo Sabres (3-5-1) at Ottawa Senators (5-3-1)

The Senators probably deserved a better fate against Montreal. I think they get it here. They know they can’t afford many speed bumps this season, especially against teams that are struggling like Buffalo.

Historically, Sens have handled the Sabres, winning every season series but one (2010-11) since the lockout. Both teams are in bounce-back mode, and I will try the home team here.

I’ve seen this act before: Media rips on Sens offensive stars for not scoring … and then the players respond with big night.

Both teams are coming in on two game losing streaks and although Ottawa dominated Buffalo last season, I just have a feeling that the Sabres will eke out a close one tonight.

I’m just going with attrition at this point. Anderson is the best goalie in the league right now. Surely the Sens can provide a little O at some point, right?

The Senators have lost the last two games, but they haven’t been playing poorly; they just haven’t had the bounces. The way Karlsson’s going, he’s going to single-handedly put up a couple of goals for the Sens one of these days, and Buffalo’s been pretty awful this season. As long as Anderson keeps playing great hockey, the severe line shuffling shouldn’t be too much of an issue; Karlsson’s just going to set everyone up, and someone will score. Just based on the law of averages alone.

I have no idea where the Sens are going to get 4 goals but they always seem to come through against Buffalo. Alfie is due for a couple soon and it might happen tonight.
