Senators practice update: Alfredsson doubtful for Game 4

It looks as if Daniel Alfredsson will not be back for the fourth game of the Ottawa Senators’ best-of-seven series against the New York Rangers.

Alfredsson, who suffered a concussion in the second game of this series when he was elbowed into the glass by Ranger left wing Carl Hagelin, suffered a setback after Monday’s morning skate, said coach Paul MacLean.

Alfredsson’s status is day-to-day and MacLean doesn’t know if he’ll be able to take Wednesday’s morning skate.

If he doesn’t play, Bobby Butler will stay in the lineup.

MacLean also said he is thinking about putting Matt Carkner in for the fourth game.

Carkner just finished serving a one-game suspension for attacking Ranger centre Brian Boyle in the opening seconds of the second game.
