TAKE BACK THE BANK

We need your help to Take Back the Bank!

In past years, some of our key rivalry games have had many of the opposing team’s fans in attendance. We are taking steps to change that but we need your help.

We want our team and our captain to have the same great support you showed during the playoffs last year vs. the Rangers for ALL of our home games and especially for our games with our rivals. In last year’s playoffs, Sens Army was the 7th man on the ice and that definitely gave our team a lift. We noticed the difference, our Sens fans noticed it and so did our players.

You have also told us that you would like to see more Sens fans at Scotiabank Place for these big rivalry match-ups, so we are providing you with the opportunity to help ensure additional Senators fans attend these games. We are putting the final 14 home games of the season on sale to the general public on Monday January 21st. A number of key rivalry games are included in these final 14 including 1 vs Montreal, 3 vs. Toronto, 2 vs Boston and 1 vs NYR.

Beginning with this Sunday’s pre-sale, you can secure tickets for Montreal and Toronto games at prices less than the normal single game prices. Montreal and Toronto are priced at 15% less than single game prices but there is a limited supply so please purchase early to take advantage of this exclusive Sens Insider offer. The only restriction with this offer is that we are asking you to ensure that the tickets are used by Senators fans and not re-sold to the general public. Any seats being re-sold will be subject to cancellation and loss of privileges with respect to future ticket pre-sales.

We also want you to be aware that we are taking a number of steps to ensure we are creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for fans of all ages at these games. This includes increased security at these games, distribution of a fan code of conduct and the introduction of an event day text message service for fans to anonymously report guest concerns. The text service will allow you to report conduct and behavioral issues and have them dealt with in an efficient and effective manner.

In summary, as a Sens Insider, we asking you to:

  • Purchase tickets for our rivalry games early before the general public on sale
  • Wear your Sens gear and show our colours;

We are calling on the Sens Army to show our true colours, give our Sens the support they deserve and to help us Take Back the Bank!

Go Sens GO!

I get teams trying to stack the rink in their favour, but threatening paying customers with loss of privileges is a bit much if you ask me.

What do you think?

I think Senator fans will applaud this decision 100%. Games against these two teams have not been enjoyable for Senator fans to attend and as a result many fans chose to stay away – giving more opportunity for Toronto and Montreal fans to fill the bank. These fans are totally rude and obnoxious to say the least!

Thank you Mr. Melynk for taking action! Senator fans thank you! Time to take back the bank!

    GO SENS! GO ALFIE!

Grow up. Professional sports banning opposing teams fans? How assinine is that? What next, you can’t wear a Leaf or Hab jersey within Ottawa city limits?

this is going to backfire. you tell leaf fans they are not wanted, they will show up in record numbers. best way to go about this would have been very very quietly. look out on feb 23rd.

This is EASILY the stupidest promotion that any NHL team has ever put forth. Basically you’re saying your fans are too sissy to stand up and out cheer VISITING fans. Lets think about this, if the Leafs fans get a good chunk of seats at Sens home games, why is it that Sens fans don’t get a good chunk of Leafs tickets? Could it be, that there isn’t all that many Senator fans to begin with? If you limit who you can sell tickets to, your going to be looking at a half empty arena that is as quiet as the grave. I’ve been to several Leaf/Hab games at the ACC, and its always about 50/50 split down the middle, and the fans go against each other. Be thankful we’re coming to Ottawa period, but as someone said in another forum, if you want us to keep our dollars that would go towards tourism in Ottawa in Toronto, we’ll gladly do that.

You have got to be kidding me!!!!! Take back the Bank?! Really?!! If there were that many sens fans wanting to go to the game against the habs or the buds or bruins or anyone else and who could actually afford to go to the game (or any game for that matter)…wouldn’t they be there???? Take the rivalry away. Only in Ottawa. If this idea was brought up in any other arena in North America I’m quite sure the guy who came up with it would be escorted from the room never to return.
Listen to the old timers who say having the opposing fans booing them made them play harder. Using the Rangers as an example is dumb, Ottawa isn’t close to NY why would their fans be in strength. I’ll tell ya if the strike wasn’t enough this is ridiculous. What’s next anyone who cheers at a sens game gets a yellow card and has their bathroom privileges revoked. Give me a break!!! This is too dumb to believe almost, but there it is in print and on the news. Bravo Sens, Bravo

This is so ridiculous. Ottawa media shoved ” The battle of Ontario” down our throats for years and wanted a rivalry with Leafs just like Calgary and Edmonton have. Now that the media has accomplished it’s task …sort of, they’ve decided they don’t like it after all. You reap what you sow. Ottawa’s media is to blame for this. Start selling your own team for a change instead of trashing everyone else. I have friends ( Sens fans!) who have attended games there and said they would not go back because of trouble with Sens fans! I think it is very sad to think that little ones can’t go and enjoy a game in Ottawa and I hope you can do something about it. There are plenty of more positive ways of winning back fans. Threatening them with “consequences” isn’t the answer and could eventually lead to bankruptcy.

Is this for real? The last time I checked this was a free country and anybody can cheer for whatever tem they want in whatever building they want…If the Senators actually follow through on this, there’s a simple way to respond; the Leafs and Habs should ban all Ottawa fans from their buildings..anyone who shows up wearing Senator colours or cheers for them inside is turned away or thrown out, no questions asked..how would you like that?

I struggle to fathom how a professional organization would even conjure up an idea like this. This is such a bad look for the organization and the city.

Congrats Ottawa on becoming the laughing stock of the NHL. Crybabies.

Did it work? Did all the so-called “die-hard” Senators fans go to the game or did they sell their tickets again to Leaf fans and stay home sipping their tea in the quiet Glebe?
