Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne will get his first start since Dec. 1 when the Predators face off against the Senators on Thursday night.

Rinne, who recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, said he feels fine and was looking forward to getting back between the pipes.

He’ll be motivated to play well, given his team didn’t miss a beat without him. Backup Anders Lindback won six of nine games in Rinne’s absence, leading some to suggest there was a lingering goalie controversy in Nashville.

Not so, said head coach Barry Trotz. He said Rinne is the team’s unquestioned No. 1 goaltender, adding Rinne has been penciled in to start at least the next three games.
