Randomest playoff giveaway ever
So last week Tiffany Douglas of Ottawa sent me a playoff poem she wrote about her beloved Senators.
So last week Tiffany Douglas of Ottawa sent me a playoff poem she wrote about her beloved Senators. Here it is:
Hockey on a Quiet Street
On a quiet street in dead of night
Our Senators skate off to fight
Streetlights they so dimly shine
As windows spring open to big screen eyes
Spreading red and white glow into the street
A street which smells of pizza sweet
The air is thick as this town’s best
Will put our playoff fears to rest
Nothing else stirs such a buzz
As the team that is and the team that was
The calm is broken by a collective scream
Which stems from every childhood dream
Whistles sound as drinks we pour
In overtime our Sens will score
And in their quest they will not stop
We bravely wait for the next puck to drop.
Then, a few days ago, Carleton Place perfume magnate Michel Germain sent me these to mark his team’s victory in the Carleton Place Sportsman Hockey League championship for the sixth time in eight years (congrats, team sexual cologne — you are a true dynasty):
So here’s the randomest playoff giveaway ever. Whoever writes the best playoff poem (as judged by me and some colleagues here) in the comment section below in the next 24 hours gets this his and hers cologne and perfume. Over to you, interwebs.

They said that it couldn’t happen
That the rebuild would take years
They used the example of the Leafs
But they’re not players, simple men
I refused to believe it
I said in to all in October
They’ll do it, my team
Because they have spirit
Now here we are
Lord Stanley’s cup is looming
The intensity is high
They’ve really raised the bar
To all you naysayers
And Leaf fans alike
The impossible has been done
This team with so many layers
I’m proud and I’m loud
I’m screaming out Alfie’s name
I snear at the disbelievers
And I chant with the crowd
Go Sens Go!
Go Sens Go!
