Poll: What would convince you to buy a hockey ticket?
The Ottawa Senators drew just over 16,000 fans to Scotiabank Place Thursday night in a rink that holds 19,153, despite it being only the second home game of the season.
The Ottawa Senators drew just over 16,000 fans to Scotiabank Place Thursday night in a rink that holds 19,153, despite it being only the second home game of the season. That has to be of concern to owner Eugene Melynk and an organization that has to make to the second round of the playoffs to turn a profit in a normal year. So why aren’t people showing up? The most obvious way to draw fans is to put a Stanley Cup contender on the ice. Beyond that, is there anything that would convince you to buy a hockey ticket in this economy when every game is on television? We ask you:
There is an option missing, pay and arrange for a babysitter to come to my house.
Why no option for better transit? I had season tickets for 8 years, but hated driving out to Kanata for games. I gave them up this year because of worsening transit service. At times buses with 200 people on them were forced to wait 20 minutes or more while the premium parking lot emptied.
If the Sens were a just a little forward-thinking and provided transit priority so more people would have more options to get to games, that would certainly help. I would buy tickets again. For the time being, I’m walking to see the 67′s.
Get a new scoreboard in there! Trying to watch replays on that thing is like watching an ant wrestle with a crumb. Even on my crappy internet streams (I don’t have cable) I can see things more clearly than on that tiny scoreboard. I don’t want to have to wait until I get home to see a good replay of a great play (and hope that they decide to show it on SportsCentre).
I voted scoreboard, but I’m going to be honest.
I likely won’t be going to many games until the old guard is cleared out and every player on this team is a young, fast, speedy, hungry, spit and vinegar stud skating like they have a fire attached to their jocks.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate everything Alfie, ‘Lips and co have done and bless ‘em. It’s just hard to watch and not feel we’re just swimming in mediocrity to give them all a few more chances to get that silver cup. That’s fair, but I see Chicago, Edmonton, Washington and even Toronto with such speed and youth…
Maybe one day under a new GM and some young guns, I’ll go back to 5 or 6 games a year. As is, I’ll go to the occasional game and watch the rest from home.
Sorry guys.
Beat the Leafs : give us Senators Fans our house back, give us a reason to come back I work with a bunch of leaf heads and they rub it in any chance they get, and they been having their way last couple of years, so much so I don’t say I am a Sens fan and stay away from Hockey talk, I want my team back and if Matt Cartner can’t fight anymore get a new kid that could take on Orr,
“An honest effort” by the team wasn’t included in the choices!
