The Edmonton Oilers are the latest NHL team to hire “ice girls” to entertain fans at their games. Much was made of that fact because cheerleading squads had heretofore only appeared in American rinks. Our poll question this morning is:

    This is a moronic idea. Cheerleaders in hockey just don’t make sense. If you want a better atmosphere at the rink, then Ottawa fans need to buy tickets and to actually cheer for their team.

    I realize that the 67s have cheerleaders, but the only time I’ve noticed them was when one bumped into a friend and almost spilled her (new and overpriced) drink.
