Define “major rebuild”.
If you mean getting rid of all the core players, divesting yourself of all acquired assets and just building from scratch, probably not.
What the Senators definitely SHOULD do though is trade one of Kelly, Fisher, Neil, yes perhaps even Alfredsson to send a message to the team that:
“We aren’t messing around. The party’s over. Either get with Clouston’s program and perform to your level or you’re next.”
It’s all academic anyway, as Murray doesn’t have the gravitas to shake the tree and these guys are all fan and media darlings.
Only solution is for the fans to stay away from the building in drones.
Melnyk only understands $$$, so withhold enough $$$ from him and maybe he’ll finally stop waving the pom-poms and make some hard decisions.
