Poll: Has Bryan Murray’s rebuild work earned him another contract?

After the Senators got off to one of the worst starts in franchise history, it seemed unfathomable that general manager Bryan Murray could return as general manager next season.

After the Senators got off to one of the worst starts in franchise history, it seemed unfathomable that general manager Bryan Murray could return as general manager next season. Ahhhh, I registered just to post this comment.

What exactly has he turned around?!!

    From 30th to 27th?

A meaningless late season run with rookies playing for jobs against opponents who are either playing out the string or home and cooled?

I can’t believe we’re falling for the same trap Leafs fans fall for every year.

Nothing has been turned around, you can’t trust the man who burned it to the ground with the rebuild.

    Wake up Sens fans!

Ummm have you seen the teams the Sens have beaten? Doormats like Florida, the Islanders, Leafs…one emotion-charged game against Flyers.

Murray will be back because he is master of deflection and passing the buck. Also, Melnyk is in love with him and incapable of divorcing emotion and loyalty from results in his thought process.

Murray blows. Get him and his family out of here and bring in a management team that holds itself accountable.

Murray screwed Muckler. That’s just the kind of guy he is.
Now he’s trying to screw Melnyk with the millions of the owner’s money he has wasted in the past 3 years.
    Get him outa here.

#1. Bryan Murray didn’t make this mess. John Muckler did. Anyone who thinks otherwise either has alzheimers, doesn’t understand free-agent and draft cycling in the nhl, or was born 3 years ago. Havlat for nothing, Chara walked, bringing in Saprykin and and old Peter Bondra. Murray simply tried to patch the sinking ship because ownership didn’t want a rebuild.

#2. No one turns a team around form 30 to #1 in one season. Look at Jersey, they have hardly lost in the second half but still no playoffs. The “Sens turnaround” doesn’t refer to them climbing the standings and winning the cup this year. The team has turned around because they no longer play lazy uninspired hockey. The worst goaltender in the league is no longer in this team. Replaced with one of the better tenders in the league. A trade that rivals the #2 pick and Chara for Yashin deal. The floaters and comfortable vets are gone. This team went from one of the oldest to one of the youngest in the league. Those youngsters that are playing great hockey, for their jobs, are Murray’s picks. Everything has been turned around, age, goaltending, level of compete, even look at Spezza’s play lately, complete turn around. The standings won’t necessarily reflect just how good this team is for another two or three seasons. Development takes time. If you want to try and force this team into becoming an instant contender you will be doing nothing different than the what the Leafs have been doing. If you can’t handle waiting a season or two for this team to be a contender again go find another team.

#3. I have seen the teams the Sens have beaten. The Caps, the Flyers, The Lightning and two white hot teams in the Devils and Leafs. If you can’t see the value in fleecing Colorado in a deal that can’t even be repeated in an EA Sports video game and the talent in Murray’s draft picks then go jump on a bandwagon, and stay there. He has done nothing but great things since ownership FINALLY approved a rebuild.

I’m glad to see that the majority of Sens fans understand what’s going on and just how well Murray has done since he’s been given the green light to rebuild. Ottawa fans may not be the loudest but they are obviously the smartest.

When people were bashing Spezza, I always said he was one of the only players who seemed to still have heart on this team. I remember a dull game that went in a shootout and Spezza’s face when he hit the mid ice circle said it all to me. He was intense, he wanted that goal and wanted that win more than a kid want cotton candy at the county fair! The rebuild Murray mastered gave me a whole bench of those hungry faces. For me, that says it all! No more dull looking hockey by a bunch of divas who dont care about the game anymore. Win or loose, at least in a loss I’m content to see that my team is trying harder than ever to win.

Alfie should give his C to Spezza (unless the rest turned him drasticaly around because he was looking way slow this season), Murray trade -500 Kuba and we have a team! Murray deserves his job after those genius trades and signigns he made. Mikelly is right, he had to work with what he had, need you remember that those ducks that beat us in the 2007 stanley cup finals were built from the ground up by Murray?

P.S. sorry for the errors in my writing english is my second language.
