Pick your team, win some books

In honour of the IIHF World Men’s Hockey Championship, which may end up being a solid television alternative to the Ambien replacement therapy that Round 3 of the NHL playoffs is shaping up to be, I’ve got some stuff to give away.

The first book is “Thirty Years of the Game at its Best” by Gare Joyce, a look at Canada’s dominance at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Ever wonder what ever happened to Stephen Harper’s magical hockey book? Me neither, but he DID write the forward to Paul Henderson’s tome, “How Hockey Explains Canada.”

All you have to do for a chance to pump up your summer reading list is give me what you think will be the top two forward lines, defence pairings and goalies for the Canadian team at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. Leave your picks in the comment box below, and I’ll draw a random winner after that.

Here’s mine:

Kane-Stamkos-Giroux
Pietrangelo-Weber
Price

Neal-Crosby-Perry
Doughty-Letang
Dubnyk

I think by the time the Games roll around, Evander Kane will be a 45-goal scorer and Devan Dubnyk will be the starting goalie on the Northwest Division-winning Oilers.

Fire away!

    Wow,

As an Oiler fan I was shocked to see Dubnyk listed. Interesting to hear your assessment of him, but I’d love to have a more blue-chip guy between the pipes for the Oilers and on Team Canada’s bench.

    Here is my list.

    Eberle-Stamkos-Giroux
    Doughty-Letang
    Ward

    Kane-Crosby-Perry
    Keith – Weber
    Price

Really tough to leave Tavares, Eric Staal and Getzlaf off this list.

    Fleury

Also – If Crosby has any further concussion issues & can’t go – Substitute Spezza in his spot!

Add Toews and Tavares to the list with Evander Kane for a great third line and Seabrook paired with someone like Subban to shore up the blue line.

    Go Canada Go!
