Clarke MacArthur gets along just fine with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and as Cory Conacher was quick to point out Wednesday, “Pageau doesn’t smell or anything.”

Just the same, MacArthur politely asked Pageau to move away from him in the Senators dressing room last week to an empty stall next to Conacher. The reason? MacArthur was looking for solutions to a scoring drought that went back to Dec. 9.

On Monday, MacArthur scored an empty net goal – following an unselfish assist from Erik Karlsson — ending the scoreless stretch at nine games.

“Clarke got the empty net goal and once Pageau came over to sit with me, I started playing better, too,” said Conacher. “So, it works out pretty well for the both of us.”

Mark Stone, who will play Thursday against Winnipeg after being recalled from Binghamton of the American Hockey League, now owns Pageau’s former spot in the dressing room. We’ll keep you updated on how long he stays there.
