Senators coach Paul MacLean:

“After the halfway point of the game, the Leafs took over the game. I thought particularly (Maple Leafs goaltender) Drew MacIntyre (was sharp)…we were in on him four times when the game was (1-0) and he kept it (1-0) and that ended up being a big momentum shift for them and they took advantage. They played harder than we did and probably worked harder than we did in the second half of the game.”

“The (Jean-Gabriel) Pageau line with (Andre) Petersson and Shane Prince was very good. I thought Patrick Wiercioch, playing on the right side, made a number of good outlet passes that sprang people. I didn’t mind the way that Ryan and even Spezza played.”

“The young players that were in the game gave a good account of themselves again”

“(Pageau) is playing well and if he continues to play well, he’s going to make it very difficult (to send him to Binghamton). Those are hard decisions. His game has been very consistent.”

Senators captain Jason Spezza:

”Our power play wasn’t very good, but we haven’t rreally worked on it, but I would imagine in the next week or so, we’re going to spend a lot of time on special teams. I wasn’t happy with how the power play was, but other than that, I thought we created a lot of chances.”

”We did some good things, but at times I think we got a bit sloppy. We have to be better in third periods, but for an exhibition game, I thought we did some good things at times. The guys worked hard. We could have pulled away a little bit at one point, but just couldn’t finish our chances. Got to learn from that one and move on.”

”I’m a big fan of Pageau. He creates a lot out there, he has great hockey sense. He competes. He’s a little guy, but he’s always going to the dangerous areas. He’s definitely putting his best foot forward and playing real well.”

Jean-Gabriel Pageau:

”We had a couple of good chances and when you have chances, that’s good. When you don’t have chances, that’s when you start to think about what you can do better. The line was skating pretty well. We put pucks on net. You never know when it can go in.”

”I really like playing with the big team, especially the home games. I just want to make all the sacrifices, do everything I can, work as hard as I can every day and give my best chance (to make the team).”
