Ottawa Senators worth $220 million: Forbes
Forbes Magazine ranks professional sports franchise values each year, and on Wednesday came out with its NHL list.
According to its calculations, the Ottawa Senators come in at $220 million, good for 16th in the National Hockey League, but only 6th among Canadian teams (only the Winnipeg Jets are ranked lower).
The magazine also makes a big splash over the fact the Toronto Maple Leafs are the first billion-dollar hockey team, after the Ontario teacher’s pension sold its stake to Rogers and Bell.
Take the Forbes rankings for what they are – a guess. Teams guard their finances very closely and the magazine doesn’t have access to team books.
