No Regrets for Tavares

Before John Tavares was drafted by the Islanders two years ago, there was plenty of speculation about whether this was a good spot for him – and whether he’d agree to play here if he was drafted.

But Tavares, who came into Thursday’s game with 15 goals and 14 assists, says he has no regrets.

” No, none whatsoever,” he said on Thursday.

“Every situation is different. You learn different things at different times in your career.

“Right I’m going through things that are definitely going to benefit me in the long term.

“I feel my progression is getting better, not only year-to-year, or month-to-month, but also day-to-day.

You learn what it takes it win and what it takes to be a professional and how to succeed at this level everyday.

“It’s learning how to be consistent and keep it up for an 82-game schedule against the best players in the world.

“It’s not an easy thing to do.

“But it’s definitely been a great experience for the first year and a half.”
